My family had my sister, Sherri Abimbola Etti on October 30, 1970, in Lagos, Nigeria, and migrated to the United States of America in 1972. My parents lived as husband and wife in Washington, District of Columbia, USA. Between 1972 and 1976, my father attended Howard University and the University of Maryland Baltimore in the summer to take summer classes to finish earlier; which he was able to do by obtaining his bachelor's degree and master's degree by 1977. My father was on a scholarship as an international student and aspired of obtaining his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) but it did not come to fruition. I battled a car accident, gained weight, and rebuilt my body through running exercise and becoming a running coach. I also fought homelessness and followed through with my father's legacy of completing my Ph.D.
