Kevin O'Brien: They Won't Be Hurt

We are so happy to welcome best-selling author Kevin O’Brien back to the store on Thursday, August 16th at 6:30 PM to discuss and sign copies of his new thriller, They Won’t be Hurt.  Kevin, a former railroad inspector, has been writing best-selling fiction since 1997. He is a graduate of New Trier High School, and long-time friend of the store. His appearances are always a raucously good time, as his area friends and family join in the fun. This event is free and open to the public.

For such a nice guy, Kevin can write some leave-the-lights-up-bright books! In his latest, They Won't Be Hurt, intruders break into Laura Gretchell’s home and take her children hostage, leaving her only one option: do exactly what the intruders say. But as Laura races to find the information they seek, she realizes that the enemies within her own home are only part of the nightmare.

Kevin’s edge-of-your-seat, fast-paced books make for great vacation reads.  It’s been said of his work, “If Hitchcock were alive today and writing novels, his name would be Kevin O’Brien.” We recommend his work for the scares, thrills, and crazy-tense suspense. We recommend Mr. O’Brien’’s Book Stall appearances because he’s hilarious and his hometown crowd loves him as much as we do. This picture makes him look a tad menacing, but truly, he's super-nice. (Unless he has us fooled.)

Before his thrillers landed him on the New York Times Bestseller list, Kevin O’Brien was a railroad inspector.  The author of 19 internationally-published thrillers, he won the Spotted Owl Award for Best Pacific Northwest Mystery, and is a core member of Seattle 7 Writers (, a group that includes Garth Stein, Tom Robbins, Erik Larson, Maria Semple, Susan Wiggs, Terry Brooks, and many more prize-winning authors.  He’s hard at work on his 20th novel.
